Abstract

Measurements of mixed radiation fields are challenging, partly due to the high demands on dynamic range and large energy depositions from for example heavy ions. We show that the JUNGFRAU detector developed for photon science at free electron lasers is capable of accurately measuring the energy deposition of four different ion species from He 230 MeV/A with an Linear Energy Transfer (LET) of 3 keV/μm to Fe 290 MeV/A with an LET of 440 keV/μm , even at 0̂ polar angle with a 320μm thick silicon sensor.
