Abstract

This research adopted a qualitative, reflective and critical approach, being guided by the socio-historical theoretical-methodological framework. We studied the meanings of users about the services offered by the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in a small municipality in the state of Santa Catarina. Eight users who integrate the services offered in the aforementioned CRAS participated in the research. Listed through a draw and data analysis was carried out using the meaning nucleus technique (Aguiar and Ozella, 2006; 2013; Aguiar, Soares and Machado, 2015). The following indicators were discussed: CRAS as “help ”; Contributions of CRAS to the emancipation of subjects and Prejudice against users of SUAS. The results highlighted the contradictions that permeate this device, between the guarantee of rights and assistance conceptions. Finally, the need for construction of psychosocial practices guided by ethical-political commitment.
