Abstract
A self-consistent renormalization group procedure has been constructed for magnetohydrodynamic turbulence in which small wave number modes are averaged out, and the effective mean magnetic field at large wave numbers is obtained self consistently. In this renormalization group scheme, it is found that an E(k) proportional to k−5/3 (Kolmogorov’s spectrum) is a self-consistent solution, and the procedure yields a self-consistent effective mean magnetic field proportional to k−1/3. It is also deduced from the formalism that the magnitude of the cascade rate decreases as the strength of the mean magnetic field is increased.
