Abstract
We have determined the mean charge q-bar for projectiles 5< or =Z/sub 1/< or =25 exiting thin Al foils at a velocity v = v/sub 0/. The results are compared with previous data for the same projectiles exiting thin C foils. In the region Z/sub 1/approx.15, the differences q-bar(C)-q-bar(Al) are observed to be as large as solid-gas differences.
