Abstract
McLeod neuroacanthocytosis syndrome (MNS) is an X-linked multisystem disorder resulting from mutations of the XK gene leading to loss of expression of the Kx protein in various tissues. MNS is clinically characterized by a neurodegenerative basal ganglia disease, sensorimotor axonopathy with muscle weakness or atrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and red cell acanthocytosis with compensated hemolysis.
