Abstract

Max Weber's approach to Eastern society reflects the general trend of Western-centric East corpus. Weber’s distinctive course is trying to reveal Eastern tradionality strictly with a cultural justification. In this context, Weber uses the patrimonialism to describe Eastern states central structure not let the devolopment of society and the market power; in addition compares Eastern religions characteristics and the superior features of Western society structure. Weber’s influence on the social science literature in Turkey is seen in the dabate on Ottoman social structure and Islam. In this study, it is examined Metin Heper’s, Serif Mardin’s and Sabri Ulgener’s approach to the conceptual framework of Weberian East perspective and to his thoughts about Islam
