Abstract

The study was aimed to produce Student's and Teacher Guideline's Book that oriented to multiple intelligences within discovery learning. The research was a design research conducted at Junior High School. Data were collected by a validation sheet, observation of the implementation of the learning devices sheet, student and teachers responses questionnaire, and critical thinking skills test. The results were analyzed descriptively and it was found the student's and guideline's teacher book were valid, practical, and effective. The average validity of learning device was 3.7, average practicality of learning was 3.2, and the average test result of students' critical thinking was 85.6. The characteristics of student's book are (1) containing contextual problem, (2) contains discussions and "Let Us Think Critically", (3) included process of finding a concept based on a media that given problem (4) containing interesting pictures and exercises to strengthen understanding, (5) accommodates three multiple intelligences, namely verbal, visual/spatial and logic mathematical intelligences. Meanwhile, the characteristics of the teacher guideline's book were (1) show how teachers facilitate learning in every piece of content, (2) contains materials similar to student's book, (3) contains the key answers of questions given in the book by students, (4) contains a design for a learning of lines and angles using a discovery learning.
