Abstract

Vibration response and acoustic radiation resulting from impactive excitation of beam- and plate-like structures are modelled. Mechanical energy absorption of an object is obtained through Fourier synthesis for any force-time history. Both, structural damping and acoustic radiation loss are accounted for in the equations of motion. Acoustic radiation is modelled as energy dissipation proportional to vibration velocity of the object. General expressions are obtained for vibration amplitudes and radiated power and energy.
