Abstract

A mathematical model is developed for the air cooling of massive metallic billets in furnaces. The model permits calculation of the temperature field in the metal, lining, and also the air temperature within the furnace. The rate of calculation on the basis of the model considerably exceeds real-time requirements. Hence, the model may be used in predictive control systems.
