Abstract
(Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand 2016;95:74–78) An account of the incidence, causes, and cofactors of maternal mortality in every nation would enable the minimization of such events. This study in Iceland gathered information on deaths of women in the fertile age group (15 to 49 y), linked this information with data from the birth and hospital discharge diagnostic registries, and performed additional searches to estimate maternal mortality over a period of 25 years.
