Abstract

The velocity and attenuation coefficient of ultrasonic waves inGe 10Se 80− x Sb x Te 10 amorphous bulk samples of three differentwere measured at room temperature using the pulse echo technique. The velocity data were used to determine the elastic moduli (longitudinal, shear, Young's and bulk) and Poisson's ratio for each composition. The sample densities and molar volume were also studied. These results indicate that the elastic moduli, attenuation coefficient, the hardness and molar volume decrease, while the density increases, as the Sb content increases for all the samples prepared.
