Abstract

The purpose of the study is to provide basic information about the formation of dentistry in Russia (1715-1805).
 Material and methods. The material for the realization of the purpose of this work was the special literature on the history of medicine, dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.
 Results. Information is presented on the activities of the first Land (1716) and first Admiralty (1715) hospitals opened in St. Petersburg, on the basis of which in 1733 the first hospital schools in Russia were established for the training of military doctors, who played a fundamental role in the development of dentistry in Russia, as well as a number of well-known medical scientists., whose works were devoted to the issues of dentistry, surgery of the face and jaws.
 Conclusion. Hospital schools opened in St. Petersburg and have been actively functioning for 65 years to train medical personnel, mainly for the Russian army and navy, by the end of the XVIII - beginning of the XIX centuries created in Russia the theoretical and practical foundations of dentistry, on the basis of which dentistry and maxillofacial surgery received further scientific development.
