Abstract

This study reports analysis of the rotational motion of magnetically levitated superconducting and diamagnetic bodies using video cameras for physics education. The analysis was possible without using special equipment such as a high-speed camera. In this case, the angular velocities of the superconducting and diamagnetic bodies showed linear and exponential decay with time, respectively. Such results can be used as an introduction to solid state physics and as a teaching material for elementary mechanics.
