Abstract

The use of the implantable left ventricle assist device (LVAD) and total artificial heart (TAH) systems is one of the most widespread methods of heart failure treatment. In Russia, the pulsative type systems have got the biggest distribution in clinical practice. During the design of the specified systems complex technical challenges were solved, some of them were the selection of the materials and the manufacturing technologies of artificial heart ventricle. The objective of this article is the description of the applied materials to produce artificial heart ventricles of the Russian pulsative type LVAD and TAH systems, also the review and the critical analysis of possible technologies for their production. Based on the analysis of features of manufacturing technologies and medical-technical requirements to an artificial heart ventricle, manufacturing technologies of components of artificial heart ventricle from the Russian material Vitur are proposed. The stage of technological preparation of production is realized with application of CAD\CAM\CAE-systems. The design results of industrial equipment for production of an artificial heart ventricle and the samples of the obtained products, which have been successfully tested under laboratory-bench conditions as part of the pulsative type LVAD and TAH systems with a pneumatic and electromechanical drive, are presented.
