Abstract
In the present work we draw a small route with regard to the (about) manifestations or expressions of atheism and materialism, popular and cultured (enlightened), by the end of XVIII century and the two following decades of the XIX century, in deeph, as from the inquisitorial archives of the Court of Santiago de Compostela or Galicia. Using a mixed methodology (conceptual history, cultural anthropology, history of ideologies, the history of philosophy, etc.) and based on nineteenth century documentary sources taken from the Arquivo Historico da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (little known) or form the Archivo Historico Nacional de Madrid (inedited), in anarchaeological way, we try to reconstruct 25 eventful years of the Galician culture, focusing particularly on the history of philosophical thought.

Recordemos, para dar término a este breve rodeo por la antropología cultural gallega, que Michel de Montaigne, que tanta influencia va a ejercer, vía Pierre Charron o Marie de Gournay, sobre los círculos libertinos eruditos del siglo XVII, y de siempre, con la ironía y el escepticismo combativo que le caracteriza, en su fuero interno, Intus ut libet, foris ut licet, dice poner siempre «una vela a San Miguel, y otra al dragón.»
