Abstract

AbstractThe nonuniform transmission line (NTL‐SR), which is equivalently represented by a lumped series‐resonant circuit, a uniform transmission line and a lumped T‐type Brune section with a negative sign, has the property of extreme points in the characteristic impedance distribution. By utilizing those extreme points positively, an excellent matching section can be produced for the pure‐resistance load using NTL‐SR.This paper first derives the equivalent circuit for the NTL‐SR fitted to matching section (NTL‐SRMS). The NTL‐SRMS is the NTL‐SR where the characteristic impedance distribution has zero derivatives at the input and the output ends. Then the transmission characteristics of NTL‐SR as the matching section are shown. Based on those results, the design of this type of matching section is discussed. Finally, the result of an experiment is reported to demonstrate the validity of the theory.
