Abstract
RATIONALE: Mast cells are likely to play a major role in the bronchoconstrictor response to inhaled AMP. BHR to AMP appears to reflect airway allergic inflammation more accurately than BHR to methacholine. Aim of this study was to evaluate whether mast cell degranulation in the nasal lavage fluid (NLF) of atopic individuals undergoing nasal provocation with AMP is better related to AMP than methacholine airway responsiveness.
