Abstract

AbstractThe scattering cross section of massless scalar waves in the background of an Ayón–Beato–García electrically charged regular black hole is investigated. We obtain the scattering pattern by numerically solving the Klein–Gordon equation. We show that it is possible to find configurations for which the Ayón–Beato–García regular black hole can mimic the scattering properties of the Reissner–Nordström black hole, for arbitrary values of the scattering angle and of the wave frequency, considering low‐to‐moderate values of the normalized electric charge. Our results suggest that the scattering spectra of regular and standard black holes can be indistinguishable.
