Abstract

This chapter begins with a general background on how to introduce mathematical randomness notions. It then studies the central randomness notion of Martin–Löf, and gives some connections to computational complexity. In response to criticisms of this notion, the chapter also studies stronger and weaker randomness notions. Schnorr randomness is analyzed via computable measure machines.
