Specific suggestions and clear diagrams provide assistance with handwriting problems, positioning of paper, grip, and types of writing instruments. Harrison, Stephanie. Spring, 1981. Open letter from a left-handed teacher: Some sinistral ideas on the teaching of handwriting. Teaching Exceptional Children, 13: 116-120. This excellent article describes the needs and problems of left-handed writers and provides specific and detailed suggestions for teaching these unique learners. Barbe, Walter B., & Lucas, Virginia H. February, 1974. Instruction in handwriting: A new look. Childhood Education, 50: 207-209. This article explains the rediscovery of handwriting, the extent of its neglect, and the increased demand for legibility.
