Abstract

The authors explore the applications of general ecological mapping principles to the specific conditions of Khabarovsk Kray. The result is a map entitled “Khabarovsk Kray. The Ecological State of the Territory,” on which are depicted five types of regions, in order of decreasing environmental stress: catastrophic, critical, stressed, satisfactory, and natural (undisturbed). The methodology for compilation of this map is described in some detail, as are strategies for overcoming various problems in acquisition and classification of data.
