Abstract

ABSTRACT In her NASIG Vision Session, Janetta Waterhouse of the University at Albany provided an overview of domain knowledge in the overlapping areas of leadership, change management and project management, drawing on personal experience and the management literature. Ms. Waterhouse highlighted emotional intelligence as a foundational element of effective leadership. She also offered examples of how managers can negotiate conflict and support library staff during times of transformative change such as a system migration. The presentation provided a framework for understanding change in libraries and supported attendees in evaluating their existing skill sets and identifying areas for further development.
