New York: Benjamin 1969 pp vii + 265, price £2 The Institute of Physics and The Physical Society has decided to have republished selected articles, with a common theme, from Reports on Progress in Physics. The present volume on many-body problems is such a venture and contains reviews entitled 'Green functions in statistical mechanics' (Parry and Turner 1964), 'Theory and applications of the density matrix' (ter Haar 1961), 'The equation of state of dense systems' (Rowlinson 1965), 'The theory of irreversible processes' (Chester 1963), 'Quantum theory of many-body systems' (Hugenholtz 1965) and 'The fluctuation-dissipation theorem' (Kubo 1966).
