Abstract

THE TITLE OF THIS EDITORIAL was not the result of a creative burst of energy from your editor striving for a catchy phrase. This phrase actually is the tag line for the International Conference for PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ICPAN) coming your way in October of 2011 in Toronto, Canada. (Look throughout this issue for further information.) The phrase itself was coined by Joni Brady, co-chair of the Marketing Subcommittee for the international conference. How true! With the world becoming much smaller by virtue of air travel, the web, and online access to journals, we realize that we are a specialty with common concerns and interests throughout the world. This very first international conference is co-sponsored by British Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurses Association (BARNA), Irish Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurses Association (IARNA), National Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada (NAPANc), and the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). It is a tremendous effort with a look forward to furthering the list of co-sponsors for the second conference! Visit the international conference Web site at www.icpan.info for further information. Jan Odom-Forren, PhD, RN, CPAN, FAAN, is a Perianesthesia Nursing Consultant in Louisville, KY, and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY
