Abstract
The use of thermoplastic matrix composites allows a wide range of manufacturing methods to be considered for the production of engineering components. However, potential problems are associated with the high forming temperatures and with the use of semi-crystalline matrix materials whose structures may be sensitive to processing history. This paper summarises work to investigate these aspects of thermoplastic composite forming, and presents results showing the influence of forming parameters on short and long term properties of carbon fibre/PEEK laminates.
