Abstract

The shape of pulse response in CARS is calculated for the Q branch of nitrogen employing the model presentation of the cross sections of rotational inelastic collisions. A comparison of this calculation with experimental data yields the model parameters and permits to calculate the rotational relaxation times. The results obtaine are proved by independent experiments on the rotationalenergy relaxation and on the broadening of the Q branch in nitrogen.
