Abstract

Management is needed by Zakat Management Organizations, both BAZ and LAZ in the distribution of zakat funds so that the goals that have been set can be achieved. One of the national amil zakat institutions, namely LAZ Insitiatif Zakat Indonesia (LAZ IZI) Pusat also has a management system in distributing zakat funds for asnaf gharimin, as well as empowering gharimin. Asnaf gharimin itself is one of the asnaf that gets a fairly small share of zakat distribution, which is around 0.5% in 2015-2018 based on national zakat statistics. This study aims to explain how the management of the distribution of zakat funds for asnaf gharimin, and efforts to empower asnaf gharimin carried out by the LAZ Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia Pusat. In this study, the author uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The interviewees in this study were the Mustahik Protection Program Supervisor and the Person in Charge of the Mustahik Family Protection Program. The result of this study is that the LAZ Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia Pusat has implemented a management function in the distribution of zakat funds for asnaf gharimin in stages, namely planning, organizing, actuating and controlling. The form of empowerment efforts carried out for the gharimin is with Islamic guidance, which is carried out by providing tausiah regarding debts and receivables directly to the gharimin, then the gharimin can also consult and will be given advice by the LAZ Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia Pusat.
