Abstract

Catfish cultivators in Ende Regency do not yet have the knowledge and skills about artificial catfish spawning technology that can meet the availability of seeds both in quality and quantity. Efforts to increase productivity are through technical guidance on catfish hatchery intensively by doing artificial spawning (induced breeding). The purposes of this study are to analyze fisheries extension performance, the behavior of farmers, catfish aquaculture production, and to analyze the effect of fisheries extension performance on the behavior of fish farmers in the application of artificial spawning technology in catfish aquaculture. The study was conducted in seven sub-districts in Ende Regency. Determination of respondents is done using the saturated sample method metode. The number of respondents in this study were two fishery instructors and all catfish cultivators spread over 7 sub-districts, namely 64 people. The results showed that the performance of fishery instructors in Ende Regency according to catfish cultivators was fairly good. The behavior of catfish cultivators in Ende Regency in carrying out catfish aquaculture was also fairly good. The production of catfish aquaculture in Ende Regency was high. The performance of the fishery instructor has a significant effect on the behavior of farmers in the application of artificial spawning technology for catfish aquaculture in Ende Regency. The behavior of cultivators in the application of artificial spawning technology has a significant effect on the production of catfish aquaculture in Ende Regency. Suggestions that can be given in this study are: The performance of fishery instructors in Ende Regency in developing fishery human resources, the competence of extension workers, and the role of the Department of Marine and Fisheries need to be improved. Non-formal education in the form of training or field schools needs to be increased in intensity. Catfish cultivators in Ende Regency need to increase the area of ??catfish aquaculture ponds. The results of catfish seeds can be used for enlargement by catfish cultivators. The development of other research needs to be done with different constructs and indicators.
