Abstract

NAFLD is fast becoming one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease worldwide and is now a major cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality. It is one of the most common liver diseases, usually occurring due to lipid accumulation, mostly triglycerides in hepatocytes. This is the case report of the successful management of Non-Alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), managed with a single formulation Rohitaka Abhaya kwatha. A 43-year-old female patient, relatively overweight (BMI = 27) presented with right hypochondriac pain, fatigue, incomplete bowel evacuation, and abdominal heaviness. There was no significant clinical abnormality except a high body mass index on examination. Hematological examinations revealed altered liver function tests. The patient was given Ayurveda treatment for two months. After two months, significant improvement was observed in signs and symptoms and BMI. After that, she was advised to follow the diet for the next three months. Sonography reports reveal no fatty infiltration after five months. The present case highlights the potential of a single formulation in the management of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Grade II.
