Abstract

Management of hypertension in older adults who are hospitalized is challenging. Many older adults have multiple comorbidities, with hypertension being common. Nurse practitioners are vital in managing hypertension in older adults who are hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia. The differences in national guidelines for hypertension management and the lack of guidelines for inpatient hypertension management make it difficult to choose the best blood pressure goal for these vulnerable patients. This report addresses the management of hypertension in older adults hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia.
