Abstract

Introduction: Management of facial trauma children requires careful assessment, appropriate investigations, and multi- disciplinary team with good experience. Majority of the trauma encountered in children are as a result of accidental injuries. Given the differences in their anatomy, physiology and continuous growth of the facial skeleton treatment of facial injuries in children introduces extra challenges for the surgical team. Over last three decades we have seen conflicts between different ethnic groups, nations which have resulted in significant trauma leading disability and death. More and more children have become unfortunate victims in these conflicts. Management of facial trauma in children an inhospitable environment requires speed, experience, adaptability and resourcefulness to treat and stabilize patient prior to transfer to secondary medical centers for further treatment.
