Abstract
Weight and length data were obtained for 36 populations of mountain whitefish Prosopium williaimsoni (N = 13,554 fish) across their entire geographic range to develop a standard weight equation for the species. The standard weight relationship was derived with the regression-line-percentile technique applied to fish over 140 mm. The proposed equation is log10 Ws = −5.086 + 3.036 Log10TL, where Ws is the weight in grams and TL is the total length in millimeters. The English-unit equivalent (pounds and inches) is log10 Ws = −3.478 + 3.036 log10TL. No systematic length bias was evident in relative weight values calculated with this equation. Regional trends in condition were not observed.
