Abstract

Abstract There is wide evidence that the implementation of management information systems has run short of expectations. In this paper it is argued that these shortcomings are the result of a poor understanding, both by managers and system analysts, of organizational control processes. Hence the need to discuss these processes. This discussion is done with reference to policy formulation and policy implementation. The outcome is criteria for information systems design.
