Abstract
Nine children with congenital cardiac malformations associated with asplenia or polysplenia were studied by barium contrast visualization of the intestine. In 5 children there was nonrotation of the midgut loop, in 3 reversed rotation of the midgut loop, and in 1, a mobile cecum. Identification of these intestinal abnormalities aided the authors in diagnosing an abnormal splenic state and in understanding unusual cardiac malpositions.
