Abstract
Apparent life threatening events (ALTE) frequency in newborn is unknown. Two populations have to be considered in neonate: ex-premature and full term newborn. In ex-premature babies beyond term gestation, persistent apnea and vagal overreactivity are involved but their existence and treatment are discussed. The third etiology is oesophageal reflux. The full term babies' ALTE are very like older infant in spite of some particularities suggested by personal data. At least, we have to keep in mind, link between sudden death and ALTE and manage a careful follow-up.
