Abstract
This study attempted to suggest Makeup designs with actual cats as motives to newly express characters in the musical <Cats>. For indepth research, nine major characters were chosen. Makeup images were matched and designed in consideration of the characteristics of the characters and the appearance and the personality of cat breeds. For example, Grizabella, Bombalurina, Victoria, and Old Deuteronomy Makeups were created with LaPerm, Bengal, Turkish angoras, and Norwegian forest cat breeds, respectively. In addition, Rum Tum Tugger, Jenny-Any-Dots, Macavity, Bustopher Jones, and Gus Makeup images were designed based on Korean short-haired, Abyssinian, American short-haired, ragamuffin, and Maine coon cat breeds, respectively. It is anticipated that the study results would be available as basic data for students in developing new Makeup designs.
