Abstract

The article explores the main stages in the development of economic knowledge in conjunction with the development of philosophical knowledge. The author found that ancient philosophy had a significant impact on ancient economic thought. The philosophy of Christian Aristotelianism determined the attitude of the scholastics to the economic problems of the Middle Ages. The philosophy of the Renaissance and the New Age has influenced the formation and development of economic science. Classical philosophy has become the methodological basis of classical political economy. The philosophy of positivism led to the formation of neoclassical economic theory. The methodological pluralism of metamodernism has generated a variety of trends in economic science. Based on the revealed patterns, the author predicts the further development of modern economic science.
