Abstract

A metallogenic belt is a basic unit in metallogenic zoning of a region and a key term in regional metallogenic analysis. As such it includes all the mineral deposits and occurrences formed in a specific geodynamic environment, such as an active continental margin, island arc, passive continental margin, sedimentary basin of a particular type, rift, zone of collision of continential blocks, etc. Metallogenic belts extend thousands of kilometers and are hundreds of kilometers wide. Each belt is characterized by a particular timing of its formation. This paper describes metallogenic units of the eastern Siberian platform and the Verkhoyansk-Kolyma orogenic region. Pre-accretionary metallogenic zones and smaller units have been identified within the platform basement and the collage of terranes of the Verkhoyansk-Kolyma orogenic region. Metallogenic belts for these structures can only be traced in paleotectonic reconstructions, the subject of future investigation.
