Abstract

The magnetocaloric effect of amorphous Finemet alloys modified with 3d-transition metals was studied. In the alloys Fe63.5M10Si13.5B9Nb3Cu1 (M = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni), iron substitution per chromium or manganese leads to a significant decrease the Curie temperature and maximum value of the magnetic entropy change, while the substitution of iron with cobalt or nickel is not accompanied such substantial changes. The maximum value of ΔSm under magnetic field change ΔH = 15 kOe reduces significantly at Fe substitution by Cr or Mn atoms, and it decreases slightly at substitution by Co or Ni atoms.
