Abstract

Magnetomechanical damping (MMD) and mechanical Barkhausen noise power (MBP) of NO and GO Fe-3%Si strips under torsional stress (frequency 1 Hz) are studied as a function of the major axis direction with respect to the rolling direction (θ = 0°, 23°, 45°, 55°, 67°, 90°). For all orientations, NO strips show a relativeiy high MMD while MBP is always small; for GO strips, only θ = 55° gives significative magnetomechanical effects showing the participation of 90° domain walls which should perform large Barkhausen discontinuities. These magnetomechanical effects are significantly influenced by the glass film on the GO strip surfaces.
