Abstract
The growth of small disturbances is studied in an electrically conducting and reacting gas permeated by a magnetic field. The model extends to the magnetogasdynamic case some aspects of the theory of spinning detonation waves. It is shown that the stratification introduced by the applied magnetic field constrains the orientation of the propagation and that whilst the rate of wave growth is significantly impeded by the magnetic field it is not totally inhibited.
