Abstract

A PVDF/Metglas/PZT magnetoelectric (ME) composite was designed and characterized. By modulating the DC electric fields applied on PZT, ME coefficient (αME) larger than 2.0 V/cm Oe was realized in a wide range of bias DC magnetic fields from 2 Oe to 33 Oe. The maximum αME of 3.0 V/cm Oe was observed when the applied DC electric fields and DC magnetic fields were 200 V/mm and 4 Oe, respectively. Under negative electric fields loading, αME decreased at first and then increased suddenly at −500 V/mm. The evolution of αME was rationalized by texture evolution in Metglas induced by the deformation of PZT.
