Abstract

Magnetic field effect on double diffusive convection in an electrically conducting viscoelastic fluid saturated porous layer in the presence of internal heat source is studied analytically using linear stability analysis. Porous medium is confined between two horizontal planes under the effect of vertical magnetic field. The linear stability analysis is based on normal mode technique. The modified Darcy law including time derivative for the viscoelastic fluid of Maxwell type is used to model the momentum equation. The onset criterion for stationary convection is derived analytically. The effects of magnetic field and internal heat parameters on the stability of the system are investigated.
