Abstract
We present evidence that domain-wall pinning in MnBi films is responsible for the unusual increase of the high-temperature coercivity. The MnBi crystallite size has been reduced by depositing Bi/Mn/Al multilayers. The average diameter of the MnBi particles is smaller than the critical diameter of single-domain particles. Therefore, domain-wall pinning does not enhance the high-temperature coercivity as observed for pure MnBi films.
