Abstract

Magneto-electric effect in piezoelectric 0–3 composites of Lithium ferrite/Barium titanate is studied. Composites are synthesized using two techniques (1) the solid-state double sintering method and (2) the sol-gel method. Magneto-electric coefficient is found to depend on the physical, electrical and magnetic properties of the constituent phases. Magneto-electric coefficients are obtained in the case of composites prepared by sol-gel method. An effort is made to relate the observed magneto-electric output to the properties of the individual phases and their connectivity.
