Abstract

Polycrystalline samples of 1-x NBT - x BiFeO 3 , where x=0.1-0.4, were prepared through the solid-state double sintering method. Single-phase formation of the samples was tested by the X-ray diffractograms. X-ray diffraction reveals the rhombohedral structure of the samples. An increase in the value of lattice constant and distortion with the increase of BiFeO 3 content in NBT is found. Dielectric constant of the samples decreases with the increasing BiFeO 3 content. Magnetoelectric (ME) measurements were carried out on the electrically and magnetically poled ceramics using the dynamic magnetoelectric set-up. ME measurements indicated reasonably good ME output of 636mV/cm and at AC magnetic field of 58 Oe at 1kHz frequency.
