Abstract

Temperature variations of the specific heat of ferromagnetic dilute Pd-Fe and Pd-Co alloys are explained by the inhomogeneous distribution of dissolved atoms in space, using the model where 4 d -electrons of Pd metal are itinerant and magnetic moments of the dissolved atoms are localized. In our model, it is shown that only the spin of the Fe or Co atom (not of the giant moment) contributes to the entropy and this is in agreement with experiments.
