Abstract

The concentration and temperature dependences of the forced volume magnetostriction for dilute Pd and Pt metals with Fe and Co atoms are calculated in the combined model of the localised moments on Fe and Co atoms and itinerant d electrons on Pd and Pt metals. The calculated results are compared with experimental ones for Pd-Fe, Pd-Co and Pt-Fe alloys and a satisfactory agreement for the concentration dependence in Pd-Fe and Pd-Co alloys is obtained, although the experimental data are very few.
