Abstract

Magnetic relaxation measurements are made in the temperature range 4 to 460 K on both ordered and disordered Pd3Fe following irradiation with 3 MeV electrons. The temperature of irradiation is 40 K and the dose ranges from 1022 to 1023 e− m−2. Well-defined relaxation processes are observed at 34 and 74 K in the ordered samples, which are attributed to the reorientation of intrinsic interstitial-type defects. On anneal to higher temperatures, a relaxation evolves at 230 K, again in the ordered samples; this is interpreted as a divacancy reorientation.
