Abstract

An insulating solid solution with the general formula CuTa2-xSbxO6and a limited range of homogeneity (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5), synthesized in a high-temperature solid state reaction, was subjected to magnetic studies due to the presence of a temperature-independent contribution to the magnetic susceptibility. For this purpose, the magnetic susceptibility (χ) and the magnetic isotherm (M) were measured. From the temperature dependence of the χT product, the temperature independent Van Vleck\\s magnetic susceptibility, χ0, was estimated. This value was then subtracted from the measured magnetic susceptibility, χ, yielding the magnetic parameters of the solid solution, which were consistent with the tabulated values.
